Enrollment
The MBN is now offering two programs to assist producers with the demands and challenges of animal identification.
- Source and Age Verification: For producers selling their cattle through any of the source and age verification market programs or to a buyer and/or feeder who is part of a source and age verification program.
- Cost per animal is $3.00
- Producer is provided with an Allflex full duplex tag and their data is entered in a privately held database (CattleLog).
- Marketing Age and Source Verified Beef Cattle Form
- Montana Beef Network: For producers interested in carcass data on their calves. All source and age information is collected, so calves will fit the various source and age verification programs.
- Cost per animal is $5.00
- Producer is provided with an Allflex half duplex tag, their data uploaded in a privately held database (CattleLog), and individual carcass data.
- Every effort is made to collect data on calves enrolled in MBN. However, the Network does not guarantee the capture of data. Communication is essential to the success of data collection, so the Network recommends that the producer communicates with buyers, feeders and Network staff about the sale, transportation, and enrollment in MBN.
Enrollment in MBN is open to all BQA-certified ranches [recommended minimum enrollment is single sex pot-loads (50,000 lbs)] . MBN participants must meet one of two health protocol options.
- Option A: Pre-conditioning vaccination programs (21-60 days prior to weaning).
- Option B: Vaccination and backgrounding program (held 45 days post-weaning prior to shipping).
