- Once we receive the application you will be sent a sample submission kit including:
- Red top serum tubes for individual ear-notch samples.
- Complete sampling/submission instructions and sample submission form(s).
- Once samples are collected, samples will be sent by the producer or vet to API, the collaborating laboratory.
Costs PAID BY THE PRODUCER
Sampling costs (PER SHIPMENT):
1-24 samples - $3.95/hd
25-99 samples - $2.95/hd
100+ samples - $1.95/hd
The participant will pay for:
- All screening costs (above). You will be billed by our collaborating laboratory.
- Re-test costs in positive pools at $1.75 per sample.
- All shipping costs for samples to the laboratory.
Please contact us if these costs are not clear to you!!!
Additional ear-notches do not need to be submitted for re-testing purposes. Once an animal is identified as a carrier of the virus, the livestock owner/manager will be notified and further measures will be discussed. We suggest that the animal (and its dam, if still nursing) be segregated from the herd and held for re-sampling 3-4 weeks later.
